Horrific Massacre in Kapasia: Five Family Members Slit-Throat, Domestic Feud Suspected
The victims, discovered on Saturday morning, May 9, 2026, include Sharmin, 32, her three young daughters—Mim, 15, Maria, 10, and Faria, 2—and her brother, Rasul, 22. According to police and local sources, the family lived as tenants on the ground floor of a house owned by an expatriate. The primary suspect in this grisly crime is the household head, Forkan Mia, a private car driver originally from Gopalganj, who has been missing since the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that Forkan lured his brother-in-law, Rasul, to the house on Friday evening under the pretext of offering him a job, before allegedly carrying out the murders late at night while the victims were asleep.
Local residents and police believe that long-standing family disputes and domestic discord are at the heart of this tragedy. Neighbors reported frequent quarrels between Forkan and Sharmin, and it has been revealed that Forkan had previously filed multiple complaints against his wife. The brutality of the scene left first responders speechless; while the children’s bodies were found on the floor and the brother-in-law's on a bed, Sharmin’s body was reportedly found tied to a window grill. In a chilling development, police stated that Forkan contacted his younger brother’s wife via phone after the massacre to confess to the killings before going into hiding. Law enforcement agencies, including forensic teams and multiple police units, are currently scouring the region to apprehend the fugitive. As the bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the residents of Rautkona remain in shock, demanding the swiftest possible justice for what is being described as one of the most heinous crimes in the district's recent history.
