According to a notice signed by meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk on Thursday, May 7, 2026, these conditions are expected to manifest by 1:00 AM tonight. The forecast specifically highlights the regions of Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet as the primary areas at risk. In these locations, temporary gusty or squally winds are expected to blow from the west or north-west at speeds ranging between 45 and 60 kilometers per hour, accompanied by rain or thundershowers. Consequently, river ports in these specific areas have been advised to hoist Cautionary Signal Number 1 to alert maritime vessels.

Looking ahead at the five-day outlook, the Meteorological Office noted that a trough of low pressure is currently extending from West Bengal to the North Bay of Bengal. This atmospheric condition is likely to trigger further thunderstorms and squally winds in various divisions, including Rajshahi and Khulna, over the coming days. Despite the potential for rain, weather officials have indicated that both day and night temperatures across the country may see a slight increase during this period. The department continues to monitor the situation closely as the pre-monsoon weather patterns create unstable conditions across the delta, urging residents in the affected regions to remain vigilant against sudden weather changes.
