In a forecast signed by meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam on Thursday, April 23, 2026, it was confirmed that Rajshahi is currently experiencing intense heat. Additionally, a mild to moderate heatwave is prevailing across the remaining districts of the Rajshahi division, all ten districts of the Khulna division, as well as Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Dinajpur, Brahmanbaria, Lakshmipur, Rangamati, and Bandarban. This challenging weather condition is expected to persist for the next few days, with daytime temperatures remaining largely unchanged across the country.

Despite the widespread heat, the weather office has forecasted potential relief for specific regions. Within the next 24 hours, temporary gusty winds and rain accompanied by thunder are likely in some areas of the Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. There is also a possibility of isolated hailstorms in these locations. A similar weather pattern is expected to continue on Friday in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet. However, in other parts of the country, the sky will remain partly cloudy with primarily dry weather, and the prevailing heatwave will continue to cause significant public discomfort.

Long-term forecasts suggest a significant shift in weather patterns starting Monday, April 27. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram, in addition to the northern and northeastern divisions. Specifically, the Sylhet division may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. As a result, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease over the next five days, bringing much-needed relief to public life. Health experts have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary sun exposure during the heatwave and to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, following safety protocols similar to those issued during extreme weather events in NATO-member and other climate-sensitive nations.
