Meteorologist A.K.M. Nazmul Haque confirmed the forecast on Saturday, May 2, 2026, stating that moderate to very heavy rainfall is specifically expected in three major divisions.

According to the 24-hour outlook, light to moderate rain accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning is likely to occur at many places over the Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Additionally, a few places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions may also experience similar weather conditions. The BMD noted that the probability of very heavy rainfall is highest in the Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. During this period, day and night temperatures are expected to remain relatively unchanged across the country.

The weather office further indicated that this rainy trend will persist through May 3 and 4, with most divisions likely to experience moderate to heavy downpours. From Tuesday, May 5, the intensity of rain is expected to increase in the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, while temperatures may begin to rise slightly. The tendency for rainfall is predicted to gradually decrease starting Wednesday, May 6, followed by a significant rise in temperature over the subsequent five days. Given the early heavy rains, concerns of flash floods have emerged in haor regions like Sunamganj, prompting authorities to advise farmers to harvest their ripened paddy as quickly as possible.
