According to a special bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) effective from Tuesday evening, April 14, 2026, the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Kushtia are most affected. Forecasters warned that a sub-continental low-pressure system situated over West Bengal and its surrounding areas, coupled with seasonal low-pressure conditions in the South Bay of Bengal, is driving the rise in mercury.

Despite localized forecasts of rain or thundershowers in some regions, overall temperatures are predicted to rise by 1°C to 2°C both during the day and at night. The BMD noted that while parts of the Sylhet, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions may experience temporary gusty winds and lightning, the rest of the country will remain predominantly dry with partly cloudy skies.

Meteorologists analyzed the extended five-day outlook and indicated that the discomfort caused by the heat will likely peak toward the end of this period. Although there is a possibility of increased rainfall in the northern and central regions by the fourth and fifth days, the overall atmospheric humidity will keep the perceived heat high. The combination of western lows and Bay of Bengal conditions may also trigger isolated Kalbaishakhi (Nor'wester) storms in certain areas.

In the capital city of Dhaka, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry. As of Wednesday morning, humidity levels in the capital were recorded at 80%, with a maximum temperature of 35.0°C. Residents across the country have been advised to take necessary precautions against the heat, as the intensification of the heatwave is expected to cause sustained physical discomfort through the upcoming week.
