Powerful Nor'westers and Severe Lightning Predicted This March
Mostofa Kamal Palash, a weather and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, shared this forecast on Friday (March 6). According to his analysis, the first wave is expected between March 15 and 17, while the second may occur from March 20 to 22. The storms are predicted to sweep across the entire country, typically starting in the northern and central regions before moving toward the southern divisions the following day.
In tandem with this, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a forecast for rain or thundershowers in various parts of the country starting next Monday (March 9). Experts warn that the intensity of lightning during these periods could be exceptionally high, posing a risk to lives and crops. People are advised to take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and remain in safe shelters to avoid casualties.
