Thunderstorms Forecasted for 6 Divisions Across Bangladesh
According to a five-day forecast issued by meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa on Sunday evening, March 1, 2026, while the weather remains mainly dry in most parts, certain regions are likely to see increased precipitation over the next 48 hours.
The forecast indicates that light rain may occur in one or two places within the Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions by Monday evening. However, the intensity and coverage are expected to expand between Monday evening and Tuesday evening, bringing rain or thunder showers to parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. The rest of the country is expected to experience temporary partly cloudy skies with predominantly dry conditions.
From Wednesday, March 3, to Friday, March 5, the weather is projected to turn dry across the country. During this period, both day and night temperatures are expected to rise gradually, marking a transition toward warmer spring conditions. The BMD also noted that while the early part of March may bring isolated thunderstorms and Nor'westers (Kalbaisakhi), late March could see temperatures climbing as high as 39°C in western and south-western regions.
