The President warned that irreparable damage caused by industrial toxic waste, chemical emissions, plastic products, and unplanned waste disposal has become a direct threat to the survival of human civilization and all living organisms.
Highlighting the severe impact of plastic pollution, President Erdogan cautioned that a single plastic bottle can contaminate the environment for nearly 400 years. He further noted that the frequency and intensity of floods, cyclones, and erratic weather patterns are rising sharply due to climate change. He stressed that these crises can no longer be ignored or neglected; instead, they demand urgent global awareness and decisive action. The President emphasized that the role of the youth is paramount in this noble cause. He expressed hope that the Cemre Foundation, established as a volunteer initiative for young people, will lead the way in fostering environmental responsibility and consciousness for future generations.
