Fisheries Adviser Emphasizes Preservation of Endangered Species and Indigenous Breeds

Speaking as the chief guest at a research planning workshop in Naikhongchhari, Bandarban, on Sunday, she highlighted that assessing animal adaptation is crucial in the face of climate change. She urged a shift in focus from commercial broiler or layer breeds toward the conservation and diversification of indigenous livestock and poultry.

The Adviser also pointed out that timely vaccination is vital not only for the livestock industry but also for overall public health security. To bolster the poultry and dairy sectors, she shared the government's intent to engage educated young entrepreneurs through various initiatives. Furthermore, she addressed the challenges faced by farmers due to middlemen and the rising costs of feed and chicks. To mitigate these issues and reduce dependency on imported feed, she emphasized the importance of boosting domestic production of corn and soybeans.
