According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), these harsh winter conditions are likely to persist for several more days. Today, Tetulia recorded the country's lowest temperature at 6.8°C, while Dhaka’s minimum temperature stood at 12.2°C.

The extreme weather has caused immense suffering for day laborers and homeless populations. Dense fog continues to disrupt transport services on both road and river routes. Additionally, hospitals are witnessing a surge in patients suffering from cold-related illnesses, with children and the elderly being the most vulnerable.

A mild to moderate cold wave is currently affecting the Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, along with districts like Narsingdi, Jashore, and Chuadanga. While day temperatures might see a slight rise, night temperatures are expected to remain steady. Meteorologists also noted that a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the Sri Lankan coast, with its extension reaching the North Bay.
