BPL Fixing Scandal: BCB Bans 5 Individuals Including a Cricketer
The sanctioned individuals are cricketer Amit Majumdar, Chittagong Royals team managers Md. Lablur Rahman and Saminur Rahman, Noakhali Express co-owner Towhidul Haque Towhid, and franchise manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique. The announcement came through an official BCB press release on Thursday (May 7), citing charges of match-fixing, betting, and obstructing investigations.
The disciplinary action follows a massive 900-page investigation report submitted in October 2025, after a nine-month-long probe into corrupt practices. The investigation, scrutinized by BCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit chief Alex Marshall, uncovered evidence of betting activities, failure to report corrupt approaches, and deliberate deletion of communication data. While four of the accused have 14 days to respond to the notice, Saminur Rahman has been served a 'Notice of Intended Exclusion Order,' leaving him with no right to self-defense at this stage.
