Following the transition of the BCB presidency from Aminul Islam Bulbul to Tamim Iqbal, Simmons addressed the media during the teams' first official practice session ahead of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

Simmons emphasized that the players have remained professional and disciplined throughout their training camp, with many working harder than ever to prepare for the visitors. While New Zealand has arrived with a relatively young squad, Simmons warned against complacency, stating that the opposition remains a threat. On the other side, Kiwi coach Rob Walter viewed the series as a golden opportunity for his youngsters to shine in subcontinental conditions. This series marks New Zealand's first ODI tour in Bangladesh in over two and a half years.
