PCB Imposes Strict Social Media Ban: Pakistani Cricketers Now Require Prior Approval
The announcement follows a massive 20 million PKR fine imposed on young pacer Naseem Shah. The penalty was triggered by a controversial post from Naseem’s X (formerly Twitter) account regarding Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during a recent event. Although Naseem claimed his account was hacked and the post was unintended, the PCB proceeded with disciplinary action for violating the code of conduct.
The PCB has also cautioned player managers to adhere to these guidelines. Under the new regulations, any player found sharing controversial or political content could face a minimum fine of 10 million PKR. Board officials emphasized that maintaining professional conduct on digital platforms is a key requirement of their central contracts.
