Speaking on Tuesday (March 17), the minister emphasized that while the decision involves state considerations, Shakib must personally address the private cases filed against him. Legal documents have already been forwarded from the BCB to the Ministry of Sports for review.

Meanwhile, BCB’s Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim expressed optimism about having Shakib for the upcoming New Zealand series. He noted that administrative procedures are moving swiftly and expects the veteran all-rounder to return to Bangladesh soon. Shakib, who last played during the 2024 India tour, has been away from the national squad due to political and legal complexities. The BCB believes his experience remains crucial for the team's performance in the upcoming international fixtures.
