Regarding the Mustafizur issue, Shakib believes that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could have handled the situation with more efficiency and tact. In his view, the way the entire situation was managed is disappointing for a player.

Shakib described it as unfortunate that Mustafizur could not take the field despite being picked up by a team at a high price. He said, "From a player's perspective, this is extremely frustrating. It is a sad experience for any cricketer to be part of a team after a big auction and still not get the chance to play."

However, Shakib also noted that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) or the International Cricket Council (ICC) has little room to intervene. The former world-class all-rounder stated that franchise leagues are primarily governed by their own sets of rules, and the board of the host country holds the authority to make all decisions.

He further added that even in the BPL, contracts contain clauses where the board reserves the power to change rules if necessary. From that standpoint, Mustafizur had very little to do. Similarly, the scope for the BCB or ICC to interfere in such matters is limited.

Shakib's comments have added fuel to the ongoing debate over Mustafizur. Cricket fans believe that more transparency is needed in franchise league policies to avoid such situations in the future.
