Asif Nazrul, the Youth and Sports Adviser of the interim government, confirmed the matter. He stated that Bangladesh has already sent a formal letter to the ICC regarding this communication and is currently awaiting their response. Asif Nazrul noted that the ICC security team's letter highlighted several points of concern regarding potential risks.

According to the letter:

First, if Mustafizur Rahman is included in the World Cup squad, it could escalate security risks.

Second, if Bangladeshi fans wear the national team jersey in public, it could also become a source of risk.

Third, the security situation may become more complex as the election approaches.

Asif Nazrul described these remarks as illogical and unrealistic. He argued that the presence of a specific cricketer or fans wearing team jerseys should never be considered a cause for security concerns.

Regarding a potential change of venue, he clarified that Bangladesh never specifically demanded moving matches away from Kolkata. Instead, a proposal was made to host matches in Sri Lanka or another safe venue. He emphasized that Bangladesh would not accept any unilateral decisions made by the ICC or the host nation if they contradict these safety considerations.

Overall, this warning from the ICC has introduced a significant new dimension to the discussions regarding Bangladesh’s security and venues ahead of the World Cup.
