The announcement was made by the party's spokesperson, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, during a press conference held at the party's temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Tuesday (May 5). Alongside him, several others including Abdullah Mohammad Hossain, descendant of Haji Shariatullah, and leaders of the 'Warriors of July' movement also joined the ranks of the NCP.

During the briefing, Asif Mahmud noted a growing dissatisfaction with current political trends, claiming that children of several senior BNP leaders are in touch with the NCP. He criticized the government for failing to implement the 'July Charter' and referendum results, labeling it a betrayal of public trust. Furthermore, he opposed the appointment of administrators in local government bodies and demanded immediate elections. Asif also voiced concerns over the rise of extremism in West Bengal affecting bilateral ties and urged foreign powers to refrain from interfering in Bangladesh's internal affairs. Key party organizers such as Sarjis Alam and MP Abdul Hannan Masud were also present at the event.
