EC Accepts Nusrat Tabassum’s Nomination Following HC Order; Scrutiny Set for May 2

This was confirmed in a notification signed by Joint Secretary and Returning Officer Moin Uddin Khan on Wednesday (April 29). The scrutiny of her nomination will take place on May 2.

The situation arose after the Returning Officer initially rejected her submission on April 22 for being 19 minutes late. After seeking legal recourse, the High Court on April 27 ordered the EC to accept her papers and proceed according to law. Meanwhile, the EC has already declared 49 candidates elected unopposed—including 36 from the BNP alliance, 12 from the Jamaat alliance, and one independent—as the number of candidates matched the available vacant seats.
