The submissions took place at the Election Commission (EC) office in Agargaon on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2026, marking the final deadline for the process.

According to EC Secretary Akhter Ahmed, the 50 reserved seats were distributed proportionally based on the results of the general election. The breakdown of the submissions is as follows:

  • BNP Alliance: Submitted nominations for 36 seats.

  • Jamaat-led 11-Party Alliance: Submitted nominations for 13 seats.

  • Independent Alliance: Allocated the remaining 1 seat.

Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, coordinator of the 11-party electoral alliance, was present alongside other senior leaders during the submission of the Jamaat-led bloc's nominations.

The Election Commission has outlined a clear roadmap for the upcoming weeks to finalize the selection:

  • Verification of Nominations: April 22 and 23.

  • Appeals Process: Filing by April 26; disposal by April 28.

  • Withdrawal Deadline: April 29.

  • Symbol Allocation: April 30.

  • Election Date: Voting for the 50 seats will take place on May 12, 2026.

Political analysts suggest that the completion of the reserved seat process will further consolidate the qualitative participation of women in Bangladesh’s legislative structure. By integrating diverse female leadership into the parliament, the country aims to align its parliamentary framework with the inclusive political practices seen in developed democratic nations.
