Rumeen Farhana Dismisses Rumors of Joining Nationalist Citizens' Party (NCP)
Dismissing the reports as "entirely baseless and rumors," Farhana clarified that there is no possibility of her joining the new political platform. She shared these remarks during a talk show on the German media outlet Deutsche Welle (Bengali) on Friday.
"This is absolutely a rumor; there isn't the slightest bit of truth to it," Farhana stated. She explained that following her expulsion from the BNP, several political parties had naturally attempted to contact her. Among them, the NCP had repeatedly invited her to join their ranks, citing her active role in the 'July Revolution' and the subsequent vandalism at her residence as reasons for wanting her as a frontline leader. However, Farhana noted, "I simply laughed at their approach and did not take the matter further."
When asked if she would consider joining the NCP to gain more floor time in the National Parliament, Farhana was unequivocal. She asserted that she would not join any alliance or party merely to secure a "speaking space." She highlighted that there are numerous platforms outside of Parliament where she regularly voices her opinions. "It is not possible for me to sacrifice my political ideology, thoughts, and plans just to get an extra two minutes to speak in Parliament," she emphasized.
Farhana’s stance reflects a commitment to personal political integrity, an attribute often emphasized in international political etiquette. Despite being a sought-after political figure after her departure from the BNP, she appears focused on maintaining her independent ideological path. Political analysts suggest that her refusal to join the NCP indicates her desire to wait for a platform that aligns more closely with her long-term vision for the country's democratic structure.
