Former Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury Released from Jail on Bail
Senior Jail Superintendent Kawalin Nahar confirmed that the release was processed immediately after verifying the bail papers.
The legal proceedings stem from an incident during the anti-discrimination movement on July 18 last year in the Azimpur area of the capital. According to case records, a victim named Md. Ashraful (Fahim) lost his left eye due to gunfire during a protest march. Ashraful later filed an attempted murder case on July 17. Defense lawyer A.B.M. Hamidul Misbah stated that since there are no other pending detention orders, there are no further legal barriers to her staying out of custody.
