According to the final results announced late Thursday (April 9) night, Rubel won by a massive margin, comfortably defeating his closest competitor from Jamaat-e-Islami. The victory marks a significant milestone for the BNP in the 13th National Parliament elections.

As per the official tally from 128 polling centers, Mahmudul Haque Rubel bagged 1,66,117 votes under the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol. His rival, Masudur Rahman of Jamaat-e-Islami, trailed significantly with 47,051 votes, resulting in a victory margin of 1,19,666 votes. Earlier in the day, the Jamaat candidate had announced a boycott of the polls, alleging irregularities—a claim that the local administration and Election Commission denied, describing the process as peaceful and fair. The election for this seat had been postponed since February 12 following the death of a previous candidate, and today’s polls successfully concluded the legislative process for the area.
