Bogura-6 By-Election: BNP’s Badsha Secures Landslide Victory
Badsha was unofficially declared the winner after obtaining more than double the votes of his nearest rival from Jamaat-e-Islami. Following a day-long voting process on Thursday (April 9), the final results were officially announced by the Returning Officer's office late at night.
According to District Election Commission sources, in the final tally from all 151 polling centers, Rezaul Karim Badsha polled 1,33,931 votes under the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol. His closest competitor, Abidur Rahman Sohel of Jamaat-e-Islami, secured 57,159 votes. The commission reported an overall voter turnout of 43%. Throughout the day, the administration maintained stringent security across the city, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere with no reports of untoward incidents during the voting or counting process.
