"Referendum is Supreme Over Constitution": Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Reform
Speaking at a party gathering in South Keraniganj this Friday (April 3, 2026), Dr. Shafiqur Rahman criticized the ruling party for allegedly backtracking on their promise regarding a national referendum. "If you believe in democracy, come and unite on the issue of a referendum," he urged.
The Jamaat leader argued that denying the people's mandate marks the beginning of fascism and reminded the administration that the first referendum in Bangladesh's history was held even before its constitutional inclusion. He announced that the 11-party alliance will continue its struggle for people's rights, with the first phase of their movement set to commence in Dhaka tomorrow. Dr. Rahman concluded by calling for unity against "oppression" and vowing to realize the public's demands just as they did during the July movement.
