Opposition to Pursue All Avenues to Implement Referendum Verdict: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman
Following the walkout, Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, addressed a press conference, asserting that the opposition would now take to the streets to ensure the people's will is respected. He expressed deep disappointment, stating that although both sides were initially in agreement, the ruling party eventually bypassed the final aspirations of the citizens.
Dr. Rahman emphasized that since the referendum verdict was undervalued within the parliamentary sessions, the 11-party opposition alliance will remain vocal both in the house and on the streets. He stated that the opposition is now returning to the people to devise a strategy for implementing the verdict through collective action. Discussions with allied parties are underway to finalize the next course of action and program details. This move marks the second significant walkout by the opposition during the current session, signaling a deepening rift between the government and the opposition over constitutional and public mandates.
