The party’s local government election steering committee scheduled the briefing for 9:00 PM at the NCP’s central headquarters to unveil the names of the individuals who will represent the party in the municipal polls.

According to a message from the NCP media team, the briefing will feature a high-profile lineup of the party’s top leadership. Key attendees will include NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, and party spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan. Additionally, Sarjis Alam, Chairman of the local government election steering committee and Chief Organizer for the North, along with Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer for the South, will be present for the formal announcement.

Political analysts view the NCP's entry into the City Corporation elections as a significant development that could reshape the country's local political landscape. Since its formation following the 2024 July Uprising and its subsequent performance in the February 2026 general elections, the NCP has positioned itself as a reformist force. Tonight’s announcement is expected to clarify the party’s strategy for the urban polls and identify the key figures tasked with expanding the NCP's influence at the grassroots level.
