Asif Mahmud Publicly Discloses Personal and Family Bank Account Details
During a press conference at the NCP central office in Banglamotor on Wednesday (March 4) evening, he revealed that during his 16-month tenure as an adviser, his salary account received a total of BDT 8.58 million, including salary, allowances, and TA-DA from five official foreign trips. After withdrawing BDT 7.6 million, the current balance in that account stands at BDT 978,626, while his Sonali Bank savings account holds only BDT 9,930.
Regarding his family's finances, Asif stated that while his father has BDT 547,711 across five accounts, he also carries a service loan of BDT 639,746, leaving him in net debt. Additionally, his mother's account holds BDT 21,154, and his wife's account has a mere BDT 613. Asif Mahmud noted that he took this step to clear any confusion after the BFIU summoned his bank details on March 2. He alleged that certain groups, unsettled by rumors of his potential candidacy in the upcoming City Corporation elections, are orchestrating a smear campaign against him for political gain.
