'We Will Not Be a Subservient Opposition': Dr. Shafiqur Rahman
He explicitly stated that his party would not engage in opposition for the sake of opposition, nor would it serve as a subservient or "loyalist" opposition. He announced that while his party would support the government’s positive initiatives, it would resolutely block any measures deemed harmful or contrary to the public interest.
Addressing the post-election landscape, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman explained that the party accepted the election results in the interest of national political stability, choosing to avoid the negative "boycott culture" of the past. He noted that the country has suffered significantly from blind political animosity in previous years. In an appeal to the ruling party, he asserted that a radical transformation of the country is possible within the next five years if extortion and crime are eliminated; however, he warned that a failure to establish social justice would carry a heavy cost for everyone. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to transform the nation’s workforce into skilled human resources and urged citizens to adhere to the significance of Ramadan and the principles of the Quran.
