Chhatra Shibir Announces Full Central Committee and Secretariat for 2026
This high-level meeting was presided over by the central president, Nurul Islam Saddam, and attended by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, as the chief guest. The session began with an emotional inauguration by Azadul Islam, the father of the organization's 123rd martyr, Rezbul Huq Plabon.
The new leadership lineup features several prominent student leaders who recently gained national attention during university elections. Nurul Islam Saddam continues as the Central President, while Sibgatullah Sibga serves as the Secretary General. Notably, Sadiq Kayem, the Vice President (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), has been appointed as the International Affairs Secretary. Additionally, S.M. Farhad, the General Secretary (GS) of DUCSU, has taken the role of Central Publicity Secretary. Other key secretariat appointments include Azizur Rahman Azad as Central Office Secretary, Saidul Islam as Literature Secretary, and Mohammad Ibrahim as Education Secretary.
The newly formed 62-member central executive council was established through a combination of direct voting by members and nominations by the president. This body is tasked with implementing the organization's annual plan for 2026, which was reviewed and approved during the session. The secretariat also includes Mutasim Billah Shahedi as Media Secretary, Amirul Islam as Publication Secretary, and Mostakur Rahman Zahid as Social Service Secretary. During the event, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged the newly appointed leaders to develop the competence required to shoulder national responsibilities and work toward a discrimination-free Bangladesh.
