NCP Set to Formalize Political Alliance with Jamaat
According to internal sources, the party aims to collaborate with Jamaat both inside and outside parliament to ensure the implementation of the interim government’s reform initiatives. The recent election of NCP Convener Nahid Islam as the Chief Opposition Whip is being viewed by analysts as a significant step toward this strategic partnership.
Monira Sharmin, Secretary of the party's Election Management Committee, emphasized that the alliance's primary focus remains on reform and electoral coordination. The NCP also plans to maintain this coalition for the upcoming local government elections, seeking Jamaat's support for potential mayoral candidates Nasiruddin Patwari (DSCC) and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain (DNCC). While NCP Member-Secretary Akthar Hossain refrained from making a definitive statement, party insiders suggest that this alliance is a pragmatic move to advance the constitutional reforms outlined in the "July Charter."
