Banished Chhatra League Reopens Awami League Office in Jashore’s Bagherpara
A 2-minute and 16-second video of the incident, which surfaced on social media Friday evening, has sparked significant tension in the area. The footage reveals a group of 30 to 35 youths entering the office during Tarawih prayers. After breaking in, they quickly mounted the portraits on the walls while chanting "Joy Bangla" and shouting slogans calling for the return of Sheikh Hasina and expressing support for former Upazila Chairman Engineer Bipul Faraji. The participants reportedly fled the scene immediately after the act.
Local sources indicate that the individuals involved are activists of the Chhatra League, the student wing of the Awami League, and are known followers of Bipul Faraji, the District Awami League Secretary for Science and Technology. The office had remained vacant and locked since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, 2024. This sudden intrusion and political activity after nearly seven months have prompted an immediate response from the local administration. Mahmudul Hasan, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagherpara Police Station, confirmed the incident and stated that law enforcement is currently identifying those involved based on the video footage and local intelligence. Surveillance has been increased in the area to maintain law and order.
