Tarique Rahman to Give Up Bogura-6 Seat After Winning Two Constituencies
Under the law, a person elected from more than one constituency must, within the prescribed time, relinquish all but one seat in writing. According to Article 19(1)(kh) of the RPO, a person can contest and win from multiple constituencies, but after the gazette notification, they must inform which seat they will keep within 30 days.
In Dhaka-17, Tarique Rahman received 72,699 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate SM Khaliduzzaman, who secured 68,300 votes. Tarique won by a margin of 4,399 votes.
In Bogura-6, Tarique Rahman also won with 216,284 votes out of 150 centers. His nearest competitor, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abidur Rahman Sohel, secured 97,626 votes.
