Speaking on Friday afternoon in front of the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan, central election management committee spokesperson Mahdi Amin said the outcome reflects the people’s deep trust and emotional connection with the party. “This victory is not only BNP’s; it is a victory for democracy and for Bangladesh,” he stated.

He added that BNP represents the aspirations of the masses and upholds the principles of independence, sovereignty, and nationalism. According to him, the public mandate demonstrates overwhelming support for party leader Tarique Rahman. He expressed confidence that Rahman, as a future prime minister, would ensure citizens’ rights, transparency, accountability, and a people-friendly administration.

Mahdi Amin also said the victory followed a long democratic struggle marked by allegations of enforced disappearances, political violence, and human rights concerns. He emphasized that the incoming government would work to protect national sovereignty and improve citizens’ lives.

According to unofficial results announced Thursday, BNP secured 209 out of 297 declared seats. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats.

Among BNP-led alliance partners, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), Ganosamhati Andolon, and Gono Odhikar Parishad secured one seat each.

Meanwhile, within the Jamaat-led alliance, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) won six seats, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish two seats, and Khelafat Majlish one seat. Independent candidates secured seven seats, while Islami Andolan Bangladesh won one constituency.
