Jamaat Will Not Leave Polling Field Under Any Circumstances: Mahbub Zubayer
He made the remarks on Wednesday (February 11) during a press briefing following an 11-party alliance meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner at the Election Commission.
Zubayer alleged that Jamaat agents and leaders are being attacked and harmed in various districts. He highlighted incidents in Dhaka-15 where camps of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman were reportedly burned, and misleading leaflets were circulated. The party has informed the EC and requested an investigation.
He emphasized that attempts to malign Jamaat’s reputation through false information will be countered by public vigilance. The elections should proceed in a peaceful and festive environment, and all stakeholders must act responsibly.
Zubayer also claimed that a responsible district-level leader was subjected to mental harassment by police while in custody at Saidpur Airport, despite being unwell, and the matter has been raised with the EC.
He warned that those attempting to undermine the electoral process might be colluding from within law enforcement and should be identified and held accountable. Jamaat asserts it will remain vigilant against all conspiracies and manipulations, with the support of the public.
