"Nahid Islam to be Made Minister in an Equity-Based Government," Declares Jamaat Ameer
Speaking as the chief guest at a massive election rally organized by the 11-party alliance at the DIT Project playground in Badda this morning, Dr. Rahman hinted at a significant shift in the country's political landscape. He told the cheering crowd that if the public's mandate is achieved for an equity-based Bangladesh, Nahid Islam will certainly be seen as a minister in that government, working to build a new nation.
Referring to the student-led mass uprising of August 5, the Jamaat Ameer stated that the upcoming February 12 election is the day to complete the unfinished work of that revolution. He warned that history would not forgive those who betray the blood of the martyrs, asserting that the people have rejected rotten politics and old administrative systems. Dr. Rahman emphasized a servant-leadership model over traditional power dynamics, promising that if the 11-party alliance comes to power, it will be mandatory for all public representatives to publish an annual statement of their assets and those of their family members.
The Jamaat leader also took a swipe at the electoral promises of rival parties, particularly targeting the BNP's proposed Family Cards and Agriculture Cards. He compared these new promises to previous political slogans like "Rice at 10 Tk per KG," labeling them as deceptive and fake. He declared that on February 12, the people will show these fake cards a "red card" through their ballots. The rally, chaired by Nahid Islam—who is contesting the Dhaka-11 seat under the "Water Lily Bud" (Shapla-koli) symbol—was also addressed by Maulana Mamunul Haque, Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis. The area remained vibrant throughout the morning as thousands of alliance supporters gathered, signaling a strong competitive presence for the 11-party coalition in the capital.
