Mirza Fakhrul Criticizes Jamaat During Election Rally in Thakurgaon
Speaking at a large election street rally at Pharabari High School grounds in Thakurgaon on Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2026, he promised that a BNP-led government would prioritize national sovereignty and the establishment of true justice.
Fakhrul took a sharp jab at his electoral rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Delwar Hossain, stating that those who collaborated with Pakistani forces and opposed independence have no moral right to lecture the nation. He urged the public to remain vigilant against electoral fraud, promising that the "night-time voting" seen in previous elections would not be allowed to happen again on February 12.
Focusing on local development, the BNP leader pledged to transform Thakurgaon into a hub of communal harmony. He specifically addressed the Hindu community, assuring them that the BNP would protect their rights and safety with the utmost priority. His regional development plan includes reopening the Thakurgaon Airport, establishing a public university and a medical college, and creating modern IT and nursing training centers for the youth.
Fakhrul also shared a special message from BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, outlining a robust social welfare roadmap. This includes the introduction of "Family Cards" for 5 million mothers and "Agriculture Cards" for farmers to streamline subsidies. Additionally, he promised to waive agricultural loans of up to 10,000 BDT and create jobs for 10 million unemployed citizens within the first 18 months of taking office. The rally ended with a call to voters to restore democracy by casting their ballots for the "Sheaf of Paddy" (Dhaner Shish).
