NCP Convener Nahid Islam to Address the Nation Ahead of General Election

Mahabub Alam, the joint chief coordinator of NCP and head of the election media sub-committee, confirmed the development, stating that the address aims to present the party's vision and commitments to the general public. While a specific time slot is yet to be allocated, the party is optimistic about receiving a prompt decision from the Election Commission.

This initiative follows similar moves by other major political forces. Just a day earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami sought permission for its Ameer to deliver a televised address on February 9. Notably, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is also scheduled to deliver an address on BTV at 9 PM on the same day. As a key leader of the student-led mass uprising, Nahid Islam’s upcoming speech is expected to focus on safeguarding the spirit of the July Revolution and establishing a new political settlement in Bangladesh. According to EC regulations, broadcasting slots for registered political parties are assigned based on the order of applications and in consultation with BTV authorities regarding recording schedules.
