Speaking at a press conference held at the NCP office in Banglamotor on Tuesday (February 3) evening, Asif alleged that the BNP is misleading the public. He further criticized a political party for acting like a "King’s Party" by allegedly using state intelligence agencies to handpick candidates.

Asif Mahmud warned that if the upcoming general election and referendum are not held fairly, the accountability will lie not just with the Election Commission but also with the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He accused the Commission of attempting to organize a "half-hearted" election and alleged that presiding officers are being selected based on their political ideologies. To ensure transparency, he urged the proper application of the military’s magistracy powers on the ground. The press conference was attended by NCP Joint Convener Munira Sharmin and other senior party members.
