Speaking at an election rally at Bahirdia Bazar in Saltha on Monday evening, February 2, she remarked, “We hold and practice Islam in our hearts. From head to toe, we are guided by Islam. The greatest teaching of our faith is humanity.”

Without naming specific rivals, she criticized certain quarters for using religious rhetoric for votes. “One party is now luring people with promises of tickets to heaven. But remember, serving people and maintaining honesty is the true essence of religion,” she said.

Reflecting on the legacy of her late father, former BNP Secretary General K.M. Obaidur Rahman, Shama Obayed told the crowd, “As his daughter, I have no personal demands. My only wish is for your well-being. Each of your votes is a trust (Amanat) to me. If elected, I will stand by you as a sister and a daughter through thick and thin until my last breath.”

The meeting was chaired by former Upazila BNP President Siddiqur Rahman Talukdar and attended by top local leaders from the BNP and its affiliates, including the Ulama Dal, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal. Speakers at the event pledged to work unitedly to ensure victory for the "Sheaf of Paddy" (Dhaner Sheer) symbol in the upcoming election on February 12.
