"Having 'Islam' in a Name Doesn't Make it Islamic," Says Salahuddin Ahmed
He made these comments on Thursday morning, January 29, at an election rally organized by the local BNP at the Uttor Harbang Battatoli Station in Chakaria.
Criticizing the recent activities of Jamaat-e-Islami, Salahuddin Ahmed alleged that the party has been inciting tension across the country through rallies and processions centered on isolated incidents. "Their primary objective is to make this election controversial," he claimed.
Taking a sharp dig at the party's name, the BNP leader said, "Just having 'Islam' at the end of a party's name does not make it truly Islamic. If that were the case, every individual named 'Nurul Islam' would embody the religion itself. You cannot confuse the public with such deceptions; they are simply betraying the people."
Responding to critics of the BNP’s development agenda, the former State Minister stated, "Some claim our plans are unrealistic. However, BNP has extensive experience in governing the state. Our leader, Tarique Rahman, is moving forward with a concrete vision, and BNP knows exactly how to implement these plans for the welfare of the people."
He also urged for calm and discipline during the election period. "If the law and order situation deteriorates, the government and the Election Commission will handle it. While one has the right to protest, it must be done through proper channels and should not lead to chaos or indiscipline," he added.
