He delivered these remarks on Wednesday (January 28) at a rally held at Brothers Club ground in the capital. Following the rally, a mass procession moved through the streets of the Dhaka-8 constituency, ending at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan.

In his speech, Mirza Abbas stated, “The people of Bangladesh have struggled for the past 17 years to secure their right to vote. Many BNP activists and senior leaders have sacrificed their lives for this cause. Recalling Begum Khaleda Zia’s struggle, we must protect our independence and ensure a fair electoral environment.”

Warning of conspiracies to derail the election, he noted that BNP has always participated in elections in a festive spirit without attacking opponents. He criticized inexperienced political parties for trying to malign BNP, asserting that BNP is the only party dedicated to the welfare of the people.

Instructing party workers, he said, “Do not fall for any provocations. Victory is near, so remain patient for a few more days. Our goal is to bring peace and smiles back to the people, both before and after the election.”

Concluding his speech, he quoted the famous lines of poet Sheikh Saadi regarding etiquette, emphasizing that the younger generation must learn to be respectful towards their elders.
