Female Jamaat Leader Hacked During Campaign in Dhaka
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon (January 28) in Ward No. 52 of Kadamtali.
According to Maria Islam, the attack occurred while they were campaigning for Dhaka-4 candidate Syed Joynul Abedin. A group of individuals allegedly obstructed their path and questioned the candidate's identity, leading to a heated argument. At one point, as they entered a narrow alley, an unidentified assailant struck her on the head with a sharp weapon and fled.
In response to the incident, the Kadamtali unit of Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a protest march and rally for 8:30 PM tonight.
Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kadamtali Police Station, confirmed that they are aware of the matter and an investigation is underway. He noted, however, that no formal complaint has been filed yet.
