Speaking to voters in the Auliapur Union of Thakurgaon Sadar on Saturday afternoon, January 24, he reminded the public that those seeking votes with the ‘Scales’ (Dardipalla) symbol had opposed the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

During his campaign, Fakhrul invoked the harrowing memories of the Liberation War, stating, "These people forced you to flee your homes and engaged in looting your properties back then." He asserted that the citizens are well aware of whether these forces stood for or against the nation’s independence.

Addressing the concerns of the Hindu community specifically, the BNP leader sought to alleviate fears of potential post-election repercussions. "There is often a sense of panic among you that voting for the 'Sheaf of Paddy' (Dhaner Sheer) might lead to harassment by those associated with the 'Scales.' I want to be clear—the people of the 'Sheaf of Paddy' have stood by you in the past and will continue to do so. This country and this soil belong to you. You have the exact same rights as any Muslim citizen."

Fakhrul further promised that if the BNP returns to power, it will ensure peace and security for every citizen. He pledged to implement welfare programs such as Family Cards, Agriculture Cards, and Health Cards while urging the electorate to vote for the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol.

Notably, Mirza Fakhrul’s primary rivals in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency are Delawar Hossain of Jamaat-e-Islami (Scales) and Md. Khademul Islam of Islami Andolan (Hand Fan).
