'Voters Must Resist Vote-Buying Tactics,' Warns Nahid Islam
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, January 24, before commencing his election campaign in the capital’s Vatara area, Nahid Islam cautioned the public against deceptive tactics used by a specific rival party.
"A devious strategy is currently being employed to buy votes through 'family cards.' Furthermore, promises are being made that are practically impossible to fulfill," he alleged, advising the general public not to be misled by such flashy but unrealistic assurances.
The NCP Convener also raised concerns about the creation of an artificial sense of panic within the constituency to intimidate voters. He urged citizens not to back down in the face of threats or rumors. Nahid Islam instructed his party activists to remain vigilant as "sentinels" at polling centers to ensure a free and fair election on February 12.
Emphasizing the significance of the upcoming polls, he remarked that people are finally getting the opportunity to exercise their franchise after a long period. He called upon the electorate to seize this chance to consolidate democracy by electing competent representatives.
