Speaking to reporters on Saturday, January 24, Rizvi described the claims as politically motivated and part of a "hyper-propaganda" campaign.

The BNP leader made these remarks after offering prayers and laying wreaths at the grave of the late Arafat Rahman Koko in the capital’s Banani graveyard, marking Koko's death anniversary.

Rizvi asserted that a vested quarter is intentionally spreading confusion out of envy toward Tarique Rahman’s leadership and growing popularity. Addressing the specific controversy regarding the Acting Chairman's North Bengal tour, Rizvi clarified, "Tarique Rahman postponed his visit specifically out of respect for the Election Commission's (EC) request. Since then, he has conducted all electioneering activities strictly following the rules set by the Commission. Therefore, there is no scope for any violation of the code of conduct."

During the event, Rizvi also paid tribute to Arafat Rahman Koko, claiming that despite Koko not being active in politics, he was subjected to extreme persecution simply for being a member of the Zia family. The BNP leader alleged that the physical and mental torture endured during the "One-Eleven" period and the subsequent Awami League tenure led to Koko's untimely death.

Accompanied by various party leaders and activists, Rizvi concluded by stating that the BNP’s progress cannot be halted by spreading misinformation among the public.
