Mahbub Alam, brother of former Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam, is contesting the upcoming election as the 10-party alliance candidate from the National Citizen Party (NCP) with the "Shapla Koli" symbol. However, his father, Azizur Rahman, the General Secretary of the local Union BNP, is actively seeking votes for the BNP’s "Dhannery Sheesh" (Sheaf of Paddy) symbol.

On Friday (January 23), Azizur Rahman participated in several street rallies alongside BNP candidate Shahadat Hossain Selim in the Ichhapur Union. Rahman stated that while family is a personal matter, politics is a matter of ideology, and he remains committed to his long-standing affiliation with the BNP despite his son's candidacy. NCP candidate Mahbub Alam declined to comment on the matter. This ideological divide within the same household has sparked significant curiosity and discussion among local voters.
