BNP Fighting Against Evil Forces: Mirza Fakhrul
Addressing a massive gathering at the Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa field on Thursday afternoon, January 22, he stated, "Today, one particular party is only spreading slanders. These are evil forces opposed to independence; they will not get the people's votes."
Mirza Fakhrul remarked that the people of the country have been fighting to restore democracy for the last 15 years. He noted that countless individuals have sacrificed their lives and many have fallen victim to enforced disappearances in this struggle, yet no one has bowed their head. He added, "The journey that has begun today under the leadership of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is a journey toward a prosperous and new Bangladesh."
The joint rally, organized by the Sylhet District, City, and Sunamganj District units of the BNP, officially commenced at 10:50 AM with a recitation from the Holy Quran. From early morning, thousands of leaders and activists from various parts of the Sylhet division converged on the Alia Madrasa field in separate processions. The surge of attendees eventually overflowed from the field onto the adjacent streets.
In his speech, the BNP Secretary General likened the current situation to a war against hegemonism and evil forces. He urged voters to ensure the victory of the "Sheaf of Paddy" (Dhaner Shish) in the upcoming election to protect the independence and democracy of Bangladesh. As he spoke, the entire rally venue vibrated with thunderous slogans from the supporters.
