10-Party Alliance Will Surely Win Election: Nahid Islam
The NCP leader made these remarks on Thursday afternoon, January 22, near the Dhaka University area, ahead of launching an election campaign and the "March for Justice."
"There is no alternative to the victory of the 10-party alliance to fulfill the aspirations of the July Mass Uprising and to push forward the reform process," Nahid Islam stated. "The common people of Bangladesh are with us. Insha’Allah, we will form the government." He urged citizens across the country to vote for the 30 NCP candidates under the ‘Shapla Koli’ (Lotus Bud) symbol to send them to parliament. He pledged that the alliance would represent sovereignty, reform, and the rights of the masses.
A key figure of the July uprising, Nahid Islam also leveled allegations of bias against the Election Commission (EC) and the interim government. "The government and the EC are not acting neutrally. They are providing special favors to a particular party," he claimed. He alleged that while that specific party conducted campaigns for days in violation of election rules without facing any consequences, the NCP was served a show-cause notice simply for campaigning in favor of a ‘Yes’ vote.
Responding to a question regarding the election timeline, Nahid Islam clarified, "Our sole agenda is to ensure the election takes place on February 12. We want to win this election at any cost and enter parliament." He added that the NCP remains steadfast in its stance on reforms, justice, and holding a fair election.
Earlier in the morning, NCP leaders visited the graves of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Inqilab Manch martyr Sharif Osman Hadi to pay their respects. Following the visit, the "March for Justice" election procession commenced from the Dhaka University area, scheduled to conclude in Motijheel. NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari and other top leaders of the student-citizen movement were present at the event.
