The expulsion was announced in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint General Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday (January 21) night. The statement clarified that these leaders were stripped of their primary membership and all organizational positions due to activities that violated the party's principles, ideology, and discipline.

Previously, the party had expelled 11 other leaders for similar reasons. However, the expulsion orders for two of them were later revoked after they withdrew their nomination papers following the party’s directive. This latest move to expel 59 members serves as a strong message to the grassroots leadership regarding the maintenance of party discipline and ensuring support for officially nominated candidates in the upcoming polls.
