EC Orders Security for Jamaat Ameer and 6 Other Top Leaders

A formal letter, signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, was recently sent to the Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division. This move follows a formal application submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, the central publicity and media wing chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, who requested protection for the party’s high command and parliamentary candidates.

According to the EC's directives, the leaders slated to receive special security include Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Nayeb-e-Ameers Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, ATM Azharul Islam, and Professor Mujibur Rahman. The list also features Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, alongside Assistant Secretaries General Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad and Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan. The commission emphasized that safeguarding the movement and electioneering activities of political leaders is vital for maintaining a conducive environment for a fair election. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been urged to implement these security protocols without delay.
